Phase 2 Funding Total (via Zeffy):

WE NEED VOLUNTEERS!

We are currently looking for volunteers primarily to help with creating content for social media and filling out grant applications! Please fill out our Volunteer Application if you are willing to help us with this grassroots youth-driven project!

Funding Update as of 3/10/2025

Thank you to everybody who has donated to our Phase 2 project over 2024! A special thank you goes to to all those who participated in our December matching grant campaign. Every dollar is getting us closer to building Phase 2, and is an investment in the future of the Breckenridge/Wahpeton community. Thanks to your generosity, we were able to raise just over $7,400, and our campaign sponsor was so impressed with the local giving and efforts that they decided to match the full $15,000!

Being a part of our volunteer skatepark committee is a wonderful opportunity to get community work experience for job and college applications, and we would love to work with you regardless of your age or skill level. We have many different ways to get involved, including writing/reviewing grants and sponsorship applications, leading community events and outreach efforts, creating content for social media and other promotions, or creating and promoting fundraising campaigns. Feel free to reach out to us (twintownskatepark@gmail.com) with any questions or ideas. Even a little help means a lot to us and makes a huge difference!

Donations can be made online via Zeffy (link) or checks can be mailed to:

Our Story

The Twin Town Skatepark in Breckenridge is a great place to be active, build friendships, and learn new skills. The skatepark construction is divided into four phases, with Phase 1 already completed!

In 2013, a local teen skater and his mom had the vision for the Twin Town Skatepark and started fundraising to accomplish their goal. Along with the help of other dedicated youth and adults, their dream became a reality in November of 2015 when Phase 1 of the park was completed. Phase 1 continues to make a positive impact in its surrounding areas and has sparked an interest in skateboarding and scootering in our community.

With the Twin Town Skatepark having four phases, there has always been the question: when will the next phase be complete? In 2023, a group of local youth and adults presented an answer...

Mission Statement

Our mission is to bring a high quality, well-designed and well-built skatepark to the twin town area for people of all ages and skill levels. Skateparks provide a safe place for youth to pursue healthy, active recreation, while attracting families to our community.

"When I first started skating, there were some guys from Fergus Falls at the Twin Town Skatepark that helped me adjust my wheels and trucks, gave advice, and encouraged me. It was a great experience."

Next Steps

The Twin Town Skatepark Phase 2 Committee was formed in October of 2023 with the goal of building Phase 2. Since then, they have been fundraising, reaching out to the community, and rallying support.

Phase 2 is a bowl which will cost $140,000, and as of March 2025, $60,000 has been raised. The committee is very grateful for the help of local businesses, community members, and organizations that have generously donated to this project.

We realize that we can't do this on our own-we need the support of people that see our vision and have a desire to make a difference in the lives of youth.

Phase 2 Video

"We are very excited about the opportunity to expand our skatepark in Breckenridge. Giving our kids active things to do is an important component to keep them from engaging in risky behaviors. Skateparks draw people to a community and support the youth who live there."

"The skate park is something that a variety of ages can enjoy. People actually come from other cities to use this park. It is nice to see it being used, but the park could definitely benefit from an expansion."

Why Should I Donate?

  • Skateparks allow youth who aren’t drawn to traditional team sports to express themselves individually in an athletic manner, while gaining the confidence to do well in other aspects of their lives.
  • Skateboarding, scootering, and biking help youth develop a healthy future by building a habitual desire for physical recreation.
  • Skateparks also deter youth from skating in restricted areas and damaging public property - they provide a safe place to skate.
  • Your support will have a lasting, positive impact on the youth of the Breckenridge-Wahpeton community for years to come.
