Our Story
The Twin Town Skatepark in Breckenridge is a great place to be active, build friendships, and learn new skills. The skatepark construction is divided into four phases, with Phase 1 already completed!
In 2013, a local teen skater and his mom had the vision for the Twin Town Skatepark and started fundraising to accomplish their goal. Along with the help of other dedicated youth and adults, their dream became a reality in November of 2015 when Phase 1 of the park was completed. Phase 1 continues to make a positive impact in its surrounding areas and has sparked an interest in skateboarding and scootering in our community.
With the Twin Town Skatepark having four phases, there has always been the question: when will the next phase be complete? In 2023, a group of local youth and adults presented an answer...
"When I first started skating, there were some guys from Fergus Falls at the Twin Town Skatepark that helped me adjust my wheels and trucks, gave advice, and encouraged me. It was a great experience."
Phase 2 Video
"We are very excited about the opportunity to expand our skatepark in Breckenridge. Giving our kids active things to do is an important component to keep them from engaging in risky behaviors. Skateparks draw people to a community and support the youth who live there."
"The skate park is something that a variety of ages can enjoy. People actually come from other cities to use this park. It is nice to see it being used, but the park could definitely benefit from an expansion."
Why Should I Donate?
- Skateparks allow youth who aren’t drawn to traditional team sports to express themselves individually in an athletic manner, while gaining the confidence to do well in other aspects of their lives.
- Skateboarding, scootering, and biking help youth develop a healthy future by building a habitual desire for physical recreation.
- Skateparks also deter youth from skating in restricted areas and damaging public property - they provide a safe place to skate.
- Your support will have a lasting, positive impact on the youth of the Breckenridge-Wahpeton community for years to come.
